Is it difficult to drive in Corfu at night?
The roads are in relatively good condition throughout the Island so driving from Corfu airport at night or day should be no problem!

However, if your hotel is up in the mountains, you may find the last section of your journey is on a windy and narrow track. Especially if you are driving towards areas like Sidari!
Don’t worry though, they are still pretty easy to navigate at night, just don’t cut any corners.
Just make sure you are not wearing flip flops when driving in Corfu, it will make your drive harder and yo may be fined!
Is driving in Corfu at night safe?
Corfu Is a pretty safe destination to drive around, but it does become slightly more challenging during the nighttime.
Many parts of the island don’t have great streetlights outside of Corfu Airport and the Corfu Town area. So make sure you take your time when driving, especially if you are heading towards the north of the Island.
I also recommend taking some bottled water with you if you are driving at night because in the peak of summer, it is still hot!
It is important to make sure you stick to all driving speed limits and stop at any traffic light that turns red. These are in place for a reason and it’s usually to make sure your journey around Corfu’s roads is as safe as possible.
Even though visiting Corfu any time of year is a great idea, if you plan a trip during the summer, you will have more sunlight hours.
So if you are nervous about driving for the first time in Greece, plan your visit between (June-September).
Are there street lights in Corfu?
The majority of areas have street lights in Corfu. So if you land at the airport late you should have no issues driving in the dark.
However, some villages outside of Corfu Town do not have street lights. You will find this issue if you are travelling to the northern and eastern parts of Corfu.

The road connection villages after Ipsos have no street lights so you will want to drive carefully or consider staying near Corfu Town that night.

However, the public buses to get to your hotel are not. If you are arriving to the Island late at night, I highly recommend booking a private transfer or renting a car.
It’s always a good idea to rent a car in Corfu and other places in Greece. However, it is not essential as the public transport options are so good and Corfu is really easy to travel around.
Technically you can drive a quad in Corfu at night, but it is strongly advised against.
If you are planning a quad bike at night you will find that your drive becomes a lot more dangerous. There are areas around the Island that do not have street lighting and fewer travel roads with big potholes.
Due to Corfu’s amazing coast and mountains, you could easily find yourself on a road with a steep drop.
Also if you rent a quad bike that is only up to 125 cc m they are currently banned from driving on paved/tarmacked roads. If you rent a quad bike like this, you can only off road. This means driving at night will become impossible
Just like many of the other Greek islands like Rhodes, there is no Uber in Corfu.
So the best way to get around Corfu is by bus, taxi or car.
However, you can also hire a private boat and explore the island this way too!
Corfu Town is only an 8-10 minute drive from Kos International Airport.
This area on Corfu Island is amazing for transport links and thanks to the short distance, it’s a fantastic place to get the ferry if you want to Island hop!
