Petra and Wadi Rum are both adventure days where you are in the sun all day. For this we recommend long trousers and shirts. We visited in May and it was 40 degrees so it gets seriously hot!
We also strongly recommend a head scarf as they are perfect for keeping the heat away from your head in the day and useful for keeping you warm in those cooler desert nights.

Our top tip for visiting the Dead Sea is to wear swimwear you don’t mind getting a bit damaged.
Due to the the salt content of the water and the mud masks you can get at some locations, your beloved bathers may not come back home in the best condition.

However we found that all sites are doable wearing sandals and flip flops, but some are more challenging than others (yup we climbed to see the view of Petra treasury in just flip flops).
There is a lot of Climbing visiting Wadi Rum and in Certain places in Petra so make sure you wear shoes that are good for this.

Also these environments do involve climbing and walking through uneven paths , so trousers will be your friend here. The best outfits are definitely So we recommend again long trousers and a top or T-shirt that covers your chest and shoulders.
However, If you do want to wear a dress in Jordan, it’s a lot easier to do this at Petra than Wadi Rum.
